The Culinary Arts Program seeks to provide students with an affordable, practical, and realistic education that equips them with the skills necessary to successfully enter the workforce and to excel in their professional and continued educational endeavors.
- Discern and manage sanitation and health issues in the culinary environment; earn the ServSafe Food Professional Managers Certificate
- Apply critical thinking to determine proper cooking methods for desired results in various situations.
- Demonstrate proper response to special needs (food allergies, diabetes) of clients
- Apply critical thinking to changing requirements of patrons (math to reduce/increase recipes, lower fat, cholesterol, etc.)
- Apply critical thinking to the business and administrative aspects of the food service industry.

The Culinary Arts program prepares students for entry level employment in the fast-paced and growing food service industry. Ideal for those who want to begin or continue a career in food service or transfer to a university to earn a bachelor’s degree, the Culinary Arts program utilizes experienced, well-trained instructors in a state-of-the-industry facility.
According to the National Restaurant Association, the restaurant industry is expected to add 200,000 jobs per year between 2024 and 2030. The Texas Restaurant Association says some 225,000+ of those jobs will be in Texas. Restaurant wages in the state have risen 13-25% in the past few years, depending on the position and location. Texas food service companies will generate $106 billion in sales this year, encompassing 56,000 locations and a workforce of 1.4 million employees.

Financial aid is available to help eligible part-time and full-time students pay for college. It can be a combination of grants, loans and work-study.
