Fall 2024 Graduates

Your graduation will be completed by December 13, 2024 and your credential will be on your transcript, congratulations!  Diplomas will be ready in January of 2025.  An email and text will notify you for pickup or mailing.  Contact Andrea at awiste@gc.edu with concerns.

The Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony was May 10th, but you can still rewatch the life-changing event .*

Graduation Requirements:
General graduation requirements can be found in the Graduation section of the Â鶹ɫÇéƬ Catalog.  Additional program requirements for graduation can be found under the Degree Plans and Programs of Study section of the catalog.  Expand categories below for more information. 
The Admissions and Records Office certifies eligibility to participate in commencement exercises. All students are strongly encouraged to visit with an advisor prior to applying for graduation to ensure all graduation requirements have been met.
 
Commencement Ceremony Details:

All graduates in the 2024-2025 academic year (Summer and Fall 2024 and Spring 2025) are invited to our May 16th, 2025 graduation ceremony! 

Students scheduled to complete their degrees in the Spring 2025 semester need to apply for graduation by April 1st to ensure their names/degrees appear in the ceremony program.  After April 1st, the application will be closed and all students need to contact Andrea Wiste in Admissions.

**Graduates who would like to donate their cap & gown regalia to future graduates may bring them by the Admissions office any time during regular business hours. Thank you for helping future grads!

Please note that parking in the Convention Center garage is free, but fills up quickly!  Parking nextdoor at Kroger is tempting, but they will tow your vehicle.
Please make arrangement to carpool and arrive early, if possible.   

There are no limits on the number of guests GC graduates may invite. We do not require tickets for entry. 

Please contact the GC Bookstore for pre-ordering information. Sizing is based on height and caps are one size fits all. Any Bookstore associate will be happy to help, if needed.

How To Get Your Graduation Cap and Gown with Tassel for 

 
Details for Spring 2025 Graduates:
The Spring 2025 Graduation Application will be open until April 1, 2025. If you miss this deadline you must contact awiste@gc.edu to apply. Your name and degree may not be listed in the 2025 Commencement Ceremony Program if you apply after April 1st.  

Your degree or certificate credential will be posted on your transcript no later than May 23, 2025. Please choose 'hold for graduation' on your transcript order if you plan on sending to another institution; your order will send once graduation has been posted. 

 

Â鶹ɫÇéƬ Graduation Details

In addition to general course requirements, students must also meet the following requirements to be eligible to graduate from Â鶹ɫÇéƬ:

  • GPA must be 2.00 or higher
  • At least 25% of certificate/degree requirements must be completed in residence at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ

Please note: Outstanding financial or other obligations that create a hold on the student account at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ will prevent the student from receiving a copy of his/her diploma.

Â鶹ɫÇéƬ offers one formal commencement exercise held at the end of the spring semester. All graduating students are encouraged to participate in the ceremony. Please check the Â鶹ɫÇéƬ website as commencement approaches for ceremony details.

All graduates are invited to join the Â鶹ɫÇéƬ Alumni Association. Check out the Alumni Association webpage for all the information and to join for free!

All honor graduates wear specially colored tassels at the commencement ceremony. These tassels will be provided to the student at no charge the day of the ceremony at check-in, prior to commencement.

Students who are graduating with an Associate degree (AA, AS, or AAS), who have at least 24 semester hours in residence, who have completed at least two semesters at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate cum laude (with honors).

Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree (BAS), who have at least 45 upper-level semester hours at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate cum laude(with honors). 

Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree  (BSN), who have at least 30 upper-level semester hours at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate cum laude(with honors). 

Students who are graduating with an Associate degree, who have at least 24 semester hours in residence, who have completed at least two semesters at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate magna cum laude (with high honors).

Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, who have at least 45 upper-level semester hours at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate magna cum laude(with high honors). 

Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, who have at least 30 upper-level semester hours at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate magna cum laude(with high honors).

Students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, who have at least 30 upper-level semester hours at Â鶹ɫÇéƬ, and who have a grade point average of at least 3.9 (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted will graduate summa cum laude(with highest honors). 

All Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) cords or stoles are available for purchase through the organization. Please contact Jacquelyn Emmert or Regina Durante for more information.  This is a separate honor than the tassels above.  Membership to PTK requires an invite and induction prior to the graduation commencement ceremony.

Please check and clear all holds prior to pickup.  Diplomas for addresses outside of Galveston County have been mailed via USPS.  

*Diplomas are held at the Admissions office for any student who has a hold on their account. After you have taken measures to clear the hold please notify Andrea Wiste and your diploma will be released: awiste@gc.edu
