Office of the Vice President of instruction
Dr. Cissy Matthews serves as Vice President of Instruction for Â鶹ɫÇéƬ. In this position, she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of instruction including academic transfer programs, workforce credit and non-credit programs, dual credit, distance education and Library and Learning Resources. Dr. Matthews serves as the chief academic officer, the accreditation liaison for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the College’s liaison for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Dr. Matthews started her career in community colleges as a full-time faculty member teaching in the Emergency Medical Services program. During her 20 plus years of experience, she has held various leadership roles including Program Director, Department Chair and Dean. She has also been involved in statewide organizations related to education including the Texas Association of College Technical Educators and Texas Women in Higher Education. Dr. Matthews volunteers her time serving on the Board of the Rotary Club of Galveston and Odyssey Academy.
Her educational background includes a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston, Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston.
