The 鶹ɫƬ Whitecaps baseball team will debut for the home crowd on Jan. 30 when they host Angelina College for a 2024 spring season home-opening doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. at Bernard Davis Field.

GC heads into the 2024 season under the leadership of Brian Reinke, who was named head coach in June 2023 following the retirement of Kevin Lallmann. Reinke enters his 29th year of coaching in college and returns to the junior college ranks after 17 years at the University of Texas-Permian Basin.

The Whitecaps have been recognized in recent publications as having the toughest baseball schedule this year in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I.

“We fully understand that Region 14 is incredibly talented when we talk about baseball ability and competition,” said GC Head Baseball Coach, Brian Reinke. “There will be no easy days on the field. We are extremely young and there will be bumps in the road. We have a talented group of players who will grow into their roles.”

The Whitecaps return nine players who saw time on the field or the mound last year. GC will rely heavily on the younger parts of the pitching staff and have them grow throughout the season to play a bigger role.

Among this season’s players to watch are: lefthanded pitchers Jacob Cyr, Kade Foulke and David Irons, catcher Evan Aslaksen, outfielders Kyeler Thompson and Landon Williams, righthanded hurlers John Alkire and Kameron Hardebeck.
