The 鶹ɫƬ Dual Credit program recognized Odyssey Academy junior Tristan Garza with the GC Fall 2023 Outstanding Dual Credit Student Award.
“It feels amazing, especially since I’ve put in so much time and effort to be here where I’m standing,” said the 17-year-old junior. “Since I was in kindergarten, I’ve always had the idea and ambition that I wanted to strive for the top. To be here now pushes me a little bit harder to get to the Ivy Leagues.”
In addition to his high school courses at Odyssey Academy, Garza is taking three dual credit courses: Environmental Science, English Composition I and U.S. History I.
“I want to get as many credits as I can so I can build on to them and stack and stack and stack,” said Garza, who is considering the computer science field or law as career options.
Although Garza has a full course load between his college-level and high school courses, he says he still finds time to have fun and be a regular teenager.
“It’s been a very fun, exciting and challenging experience to balance,” said Garza. “It’s been a challenge, but a welcome one. I maintain a good relationship with my friends and family, while also keeping high standards with my grades.”
Garza says he has enjoyed his dual credit experience and is looking forward to the next semester.
“It’s a very awesome feeling because I don’t feel rushed to do anything yet, and I have time to choose if I want to change my mind,” said Garza. “It’s a very optimized path I’m on.”
