鶹ɫƬ kicked off the academic year on Aug. 16, 2024, with its annual Fall General Assembly, a gathering that set the tone for an exciting year ahead.

Faculty and staff were warmly welcomed by GC President W. Myles Shelton, Ed.D., and the Board of Regents as they returned to campus in anticipation of the start of the 2024 Fall semester.

In his address to the college, Dr. Shelton highlighted the GC’s achievements over the past year, emphasizing milestones that showcased the institution's commitment to excellence in education and student success.

A major highlight of the General Assembly was the announcement of the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Health Sciences Education Center. The new three-story, 64,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building is set to become a cornerstone of healthcare education in the region, providing students with cutting-edge resources and training opportunities that will prepare them for successful careers in healthcare professions.

In addition to Dr. Shelton’s State of the College address, updates were provided to faculty and staff by other college administrators on a variety of topics such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) site visit in November, and the Quality Enhancement Plan, “Mindset Matters,” which focuses on fostering a growth mindset among students and faculty to enhance learning outcomes.

Further updates were shared during the morning event regarding the college's library, facilities, athletics, and mental health initiatives.
