The United States Department of Education recently awarded 鶹ɫƬ a $3 million grant under the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) program.
The HSI program provides grants to assist HSIs, such as 鶹ɫƬ, to expand educational opportunities for, and improve the attainment of, Hispanic students. In addition, the program grant enables HSIs to expand and enhance their academic offerings, program quality and institutional stability.
“We are thrilled to have received the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions program grant from the U.S. Department of Education,” said GC President, W. Myles Shelton, Ed.D. “As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, the funding will greatly benefit our Hispanic community and students by helping us provide additional educational opportunities, as well as improving the quality of our programs.”
As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, 鶹ɫƬ’s student population is 41.8% Hispanic, and 80.1% of Hispanic students are first-generation college students.
