鶹ɫƬ Regent Armin Cantini was recently elected secretary of the Board of Directors of the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT). Elected at CCATT’s Annual Conference in Houston, Texas, Cantini will now serve on the association’s Executive Committee.
The CCATT provides professional education programs and governance training for community college trustees in Texas. Through regional meetings, webinars and an annual conference, CCATT delivers the latest information and research on exemplary community college practices and programs.
“Working in concert with the Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC), the Texas Community College Teachers Association (TCCTA), the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), we have strengthened the message by speaking with a unified voice regarding community college issues in Austin and in Washington,” said Cantini.
Cantini also serves as a member of the Texas Community College Finance Steering Committee. He is a past chairman of the 鶹ɫƬ Board of Regents and is currently serving a third six-year term. He was a founding member of the 鶹ɫƬ Foundation which established the Universal Access Endowment to provide scholarships to every eligible high school graduate, or equivalent, who resides in the 鶹ɫƬ taxing district.
Cantini and his wife, Gail, have been ardent supporters of the 鶹ɫƬ Nursing program and have endowed the Lynn Levin Cantini Nursing Assistance Fund. He said they are very proud 鶹ɫƬ now offers a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and has begun construction of a new 64,000-square-foot, three-story Health Sciences Education Center.
