Â鶹ɫÇéƬ is now accepting applications for its 32nd Law Enforcement Academy.
The college has added a new full-time day program to its schedule, which will run Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Classes begin Aug. 6. Graduation will be in December 2018.
The evening program will run Mondays through Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 6. Graduation is set for May 2019.
The deadline to apply for the day and evening programs is June 30.
More than 400 cadets have graduated from Â鶹ɫÇéƬ’s Law Enforcement Academy since it began in 1987. Many of those graduates have gone on to join county law enforcement agencies and police departments in Texas.
The law enforcement academy is designed for those who are seeking their Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) basic peace officers certification. The 699-hour course of study includes, but is not limited to
• review of the Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure,
• Texas traffic laws,
• firearms training
• physical training/defensive tactics,
• police vehicle operation,
• vice and narcotics investigation,
• criminal investigation and
• traffic accident investigation.
