鶹ɫƬ students, local middle and high school students, parents, families and community members took advantage of great weather and the opportunity to explore GC’s programs while having fun and enjoying food, refreshments, games and giveaways during the annual GC Island Fest on March 29 at the college’s main campus.

The GC Island Fest had something for everyone to enjoy and discover. While current and future students, parents and community members learned about the more than 50 programs offered at GC and on display in the Seibel Wing, children and younger students had fun tumbling on extreme inflatables, playing games and dunking GC faculty and staff members in the dunk tank on the front lawn of the main campus.

“We had a wonderful turnout and everyone enjoyed the activities, games and learning about all the programs we offer at 鶹ɫƬ,” said GC Admissions Assistant Director, Andrea Wiste. “It was exciting to see our students, as well as the middle and high schoolers, and all the families that attended. We had a lot of interest in our programs and the educational opportunities GC offers to the residents of Galveston and the surrounding communities.”

In addition, GC’s Financial Aid staff talked to parents and students to help them learn about the financial aid application process and its importance so families can take advantage of the various financial assistance opportunities available to them and help their children pursue a higher education.

“We had a lot of fun and learned more about the programs GC offers,” said 17-year-old Ball High School junior and GC Upward Bound student, Jaime Villamil. “It was a very welcoming event. It was a new environment for me being a high school student and going into GC Island Fest. It was a new experience for me and it was very engaging learning about the different programs.”

Summer and fall 2023 enrollment is currently underway. Summer classes begin May 15, June 5 and July 10. Fall classes begin Aug. 28.
